DESCRIPTION

The unique political situation today and social turmoil in some Muslim states has forced many Muslims to migrate to live among the non-Muslims in the West.

Reasons for migration range from seeking a better livelihood to escaping war. Muslims have found themselves living in mostly capitalistic societies in which the competition for materialism and luxury is alive and well.

These very same societies are the heart of the current fiat monetary system and conventional banking that has been imposed on the world. A system that has fueled vices on levels previously impossible and has destroyed people's wealth, all at the expense of a private cartel of bankers who create wealth on the basis of debt with the stroke of a computer key.

The calamity became greater when some Muslims living in the West have become impressed with the material progress. They saw conventional banking to be the driving force behind such economic growth and material achievement. As a result, odd verdicts were referenced to marginalize the evils of conventional banking, that somehow the Ribā in the Qur’ān is something different than bank interest.

This infatuation continued until Muslims complained about the dire necessity of owning homes in the West. Muslims are here to stay and live the high life, so they must take whatever means possible in order to own their homes, even if it means Fatwā shopping.
This book is a conversion and expansion what I began to write in the year 2000 at the conclusion of my undergraduate studies. I have taken the journey to seek education in the Sharī‘ah with a focus on Islamic finance, banking and economics . In that context, I expanded my original writing into a more comprehensive piece in 2018, and I finally took that piece and expanded it further into my contribution to the world in general, the and Muslims in particular: Usury Unbound.

You will get the opportunity to learn the basics of Ribā and its types. You will go further to learn about the specious arguments of Muslim modernists regarding bank interest. You will also become familiar with basic Islamic banking and finance models, and the overall quest for Sharī‘ah compliance in the context of a thorough review of the history of money that went from currency commodities of intrinsic value to worthless fiat currency that is designed to fuel the Ribā-based fractional reserve banking.
